A devout young lady deserving of recognition has caught our attention in this week’s edition of the SPOTLIGHT.
Miss Abubakar Aishatu, popularly known as Yisha, is an enthusiastic and adventurous young Muslim whose life goal is to please her creator. One of her top priorities while doing so is to ensure the happiness of everyone around her. She is currently a third-year bachelor’s student at the Jiangsu University of Technology, majoring in international economics and trade. She is a proud product of Ghana Lebanon Islamic SHS (GLISS) who is passionate about helping brilliant but needy tertiary students and orphans, so she founded ‘The Yisha Hope Foundation’.
As a vibrant young lady, Hon. Yisha enjoys spending her leisure time reading, cooking, and watching movies with friends. Hon. Yisha demonstrated her love for NUGS-China and passion for service by serving the Union in several capacities, including the National Women’s Forum Hall Representative (2020/21 and 2021/22), Vice-Chair of the NCWC Event Planning Committee (2020/2021), and the General Secretary of the Changzhou Chapter (2021/2022).
Hon. Yisha’s devotion to duty has not gone unnoticed as she won several awards, including Outstanding Hall Rep (2020/2021), Active Member of the Event planning committee and NUGS CHINA dedicated member award (2021). She has been adjudged Outstanding International student for two consecutive academic years (2020/2021 and 2021/2022) by her school.
Hon. Yisha is not only a good reader but also a good writer. She recently co-authored an academic paper on ‘Crowd logistics’ Impact on Environmental Sustainability in a Developing Economy: An Analysis in Ghana’. She also authored an article in the recently released 2nd edition of NUGS-China magazine, the Atumpan, on ‘Things to Know as a student before coming to China’.
