Greetings to you all, all protocols duly observed. On behalf of my entire executives, I’d like to thank you all for being here, and for all your thoughts, prayers, kindness and support towards this union.
It’s never easy announcing the death of a loved one, but this is the first step in honoring the person who has passed. There are times when there are too few words left to heal us when what we wish for is to be carried, when all we have left is the hope that tomorrow will be a more gentle place to land than today. It is with our deepest regret to inform you that we lost a great brother, friend, and a family member Mr. Emmanuel Oteng. He was a PhD student at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), School of Management and Economics. He was a NUGS member from Chengdu Chapter. He also served as the National Organizer of NUGS-China for the 2015/2016 administration and contributed immensely towards the development of the union.
We often say that the hour of death cannot be forecast. Whenever we say this we imagine this hour would be in a distant future. We never thought it would be soon for our brother. Personally it was a great honor and privilege for me to have uploaded Mr. Emmanuel Oteng’s information to our website and to ensure that his efforts to the union will forever be remembered prior to his demise. His demise has left a deep hole in our hearts.
In memory of his soul, we are gathered here to pay our last respect, pray for his soul and to sympathize with the entire family. It is our hope that this vigil provides us with a more intimate setting where it will be easier for us to be aware of our own grief. This is a time to be reminded of the journey of faith that our brother, friend, colleague or family member has made. This may be a time to cry, a time to laugh, a time to remember and a time to pray. This is probably the most appropriate opportunity for us (away from home) to express our sincere condolences and also sympathize with family and friends.
To the family and all sympathizers, we say that, may our condolences bring you comfort and may our prayers ease the pain of this loss.
May the soul of our dearly departed brother rest in peace and may. May the Good Lord grant him perfect peace in his bosom.
