China: A Top Destination for Foreign Studies

China is home to the two best universities in Asia Pacific and emerging countries according to the latest Times Higher Education World Universities Rankings. This together with other factors has contributed to the consistent increase in the number of foreign students in China since 2003. According to Global Mobility Trends, China is the world’s third leading destination for international students, second only to the US and the UK and was home to about 492,185 foreign students just last year. Statistical data from China’s Ministry of Education has also revealed that 12.81% of international students received Chinese government scholarships in 2019.
